How we make our numbers

Calculators apply published 2026 rules: the Social Security wage base of $184,500, a 12.4% Social Security rate, 2.9% Medicare, a 92.35% self-employment base, and $1,890 per credit. We cite IRS Publication 517 and the Social Security Administration.
